Arizona Coyotes Post Renderings of Planned Arena Entertainment District Amid North Phoenix Land Bid
Coyotes Move Forward with Arizona Commitment
New Arena to Complete Meruelo Family's Promise
The Arizona Coyotes have released renderings of their planned arena entertainment district as part of their bid for a tract of land in north Phoenix. The deal, if approved, would mark the final step in the Meruelo family's commitment to keep the Coyotes in Arizona.
In addition to an arena, the entertainment district would include a practice facility, a hotel, and a variety of restaurants and shops. The Coyotes have also promised to invest in the surrounding area, including infrastructure improvements and affordable housing.
The deal includes a provision for Arizona to get an expansion team if a new arena is built within the next five years. This is a significant development, as it would give Arizona its first major league expansion team since the Arizona Diamondbacks joined the National League in 1998.
The Coyotes' bid for the land is part of a larger plan to revitalize the north Phoenix area. The city of Phoenix has already approved a $200 million infrastructure improvement plan for the area, and the Coyotes' project would be a major catalyst for further development.
The Coyotes' bid is expected to face competition from other developers, but the team is confident that its plan is the best for the city of Phoenix and the state of Arizona.
