Team United States

The United States entered the tournament as the two-time defending gold medalist, having won the previous two Olympic tournaments in 2000 and 2004. However, the team struggled in the preliminary round, losing to Lithuania and Argentina. The United States eventually finished third in the tournament after defeating Spain in the bronze medal game.
