Mets Score 10 Runs In 3rd Straight Game After Slugging 4 Home Runs In Win Over Phillies

Mets Score 10 Runs in 3rd Straight Game After Slugging 4 Home Runs in Win Over Phillies

Mets Continue Offensive Tear, Win 10-6

The New York Mets continued their offensive tear on Wednesday night, scoring 10 runs for the third straight game in a 10-6 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. The Mets hit four home runs in the game, including two from Pete Alonso and one each from Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil.

The Mets jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Alonso hit a two-run homer off Phillies starter Zach Eflin. Lindor made it 3-0 in the second inning with a solo homer, and McNeil gave the Mets a 4-0 lead in the third inning with a solo homer of his own.

The Phillies cut the lead to 4-3 in the fourth inning on a two-run homer by Bryce Harper, but the Mets answered back in the fifth inning with a two-run homer by Alonso. The Mets added three more runs in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Lindor and a two-run single by Mark Canha.

The Phillies scored three runs in the seventh inning on a two-run homer by Nick Castellanos and a solo homer by Kyle Schwarber, but the Mets bullpen held on to secure the win.

Mets Offense Continues to Roll

The Mets offense has been on fire over the past three games, scoring 30 runs in that span. Alonso has been leading the charge, going 7-for-12 with four home runs and nine RBIs in the three games.

Lindor and McNeil have also been key contributors to the Mets' offensive success, with Lindor going 6-for-12 with two home runs and five RBIs in the three games, and McNeil going 7-for-12 with one home run and four RBIs in the three games.

The Mets offense has now scored at least 10 runs in five of their last seven games. They are now averaging 5.9 runs per game, which is second in the National League behind the Atlanta Braves.

Mets Pitching Staff Holds On

The Mets pitching staff has not been as impressive as the offense, but they have done enough to win games. Taijuan Walker started Wednesday's game and allowed three runs on six hits in five innings. The Mets bullpen then allowed three runs on six hits in four innings, but they were able to hold on to secure the win.

The Mets bullpen has been a bit of a concern this season, but they have been better lately. In their last seven games, the Mets bullpen has allowed just six runs in 26 innings, with a 2.19 ERA.

Mets Win Fourth Straight Game

The Mets have now won four straight games and are 16-10 on the season. They are currently in first place in the NL East, two games ahead of the Phillies.

The Mets will look to continue their winning streak on Thursday when they face the Phillies in the second game of their three-game series.
